What I Pack in My Travel First Aid Kit

A hanging bag that makes organizing effortless

I love bags, and I love organizing those bags even more. These are perfect because the separate compartments make it easy to find everything quickly, and you can hang them up in tight spaces. I actually travel with three: one for toiletries, one for my first‑aid kit, and one dedicated to tech gadgets.

Pill cases that keep everything sorted on the go

Everyone’s needs for medicines are different, so I’m not suggesting anything specific. What I can say is that these two organizers have earned a place in my travel routine. I use them interchangeably depending on the trip. The smaller organizer is great when I only need a few essentials, while the larger compartment-style case works better when I need to bring a wider variety of medications. Both make it easy to stay organized whether they’re tucked into my day pack, carry-on, or first-aid kit.

Bandages that help me keep moving despite blisters

One constant through all my travels is that I’ll get a blister at the worst possible moment. It doesn’t matter how broken‑in my sneakers are or how prepared I think I am. Between hydrocolloid bandages and moleskin, these are my go‑to fixes so I can keep walking no matter what.

Honey drops that soothe a scratchy travel throat

Ever end up with a raspy throat from a musty hotel room or a cold tent? These honey drops help coat my throat and get it feeling normal again.

Aloe gel that saves me when I have too much fun in the sun

It’s inevitable that I forget sunscreen on one spot and regret it for days. Carrying this small aloe container has been a game changer. No more searching every store for relief for me!

Eye drops that help with dry airplane and hotel air

Airplanes and hotel rooms can make my eyes super dry. These are my favorite drops to keep things comfortable, and I love the individual packaging so I only bring what I need. (Check with your eye doctor before using them.)

A pulse oximeter I pack for high‑elevation trips

For longer trips or when I’m really out in the middle of nowhere, I like having a couple of extra tools. Since mountains are one of my happy places, I occasionally check my SpO2 at high elevation. Smartwatches do this now, but this little device still earns its spot in my bag.

A blood pressure monitor I bring for remote travel

When I’m traveling somewhere remote, I like having a few standard items with me. A blood pressure monitor is always one of them, and this one is my favorite.

An EKG device I keep for longer or off‑grid trips

I joke that I travel like a one‑woman ER sometimes, and this tiny device is part of that. It’s small enough to disappear into my bag, and I like having it on longer trips for a little extra peace of mind. I don’t use it often, but it’s nice to have when I’m away from home for a while.
